- An initial 30-minute consultation to give us a chance to talk face-to-face and see if I might be the doula for you.

- Four antenatal meetings with you (and your partner) at your home:

1. Initial planning & birth preferences

  • Getting to know you: a deep dive into your pregnancy journey so far, discussing your hopes, concerns, and expectations for birth.

  • Birth Plan exploration: guidance in creating or refining a Birth Plan, exploring your preferences for labour and birth, pain relief options, and desired environment.

  • Partner involvement: discussing your partner’s role during labour and birth to ensure they feel confident and prepared to provide support.

2. Pelvic anatomy, labour hormones, comfort measures and birth preparation

  • Pelvic anatomy: understanding the role of the pelvis during labour—how the baby moves through the pelvis, and how different labour positions can aid in optimizing space and encouraging smooth progress.

  • Labour hormones: education on key hormones in labour (oxytocin, endorphins, adrenaline, and prolactin), how they work to promote labour and bonding, and tips on how to support the release of beneficial hormones.

  • Labour education: information on the stages of labour, what to expect at each phase, and when to call me or go to the hospital/birth centre.

  • Comfort techniques: hands-on practice of pain management techniques, such as breathing exercises, massage, positions for labour, and relaxation methods.

  • Coping strategies: emotional and mental preparation for labour, addressing fears, and strategies for staying calm and focused during birth.

3. Postpartum planning & newborn care

  • Postpartum preparation: discussion about what to expect in the first few weeks after birth, including physical recovery and emotional health.

  • Newborn Basics: education on newborn care such as feeding, swaddling, nappies, and understanding newborn sleep patterns.

  • Family dynamics: preparing for changes in family life, partner support, and managing expectations with siblings (if applicable).

4. Final preparations & rehearsal

  • Hospital bag & birth environment: assistance in finalising your hospital bag, baby essentials, and preparing your birth space for a calm, supportive environment.

  • Finalise the Birth Plan.

  • Birth rehearsal: a mock scenario of labour to review key comfort measures, birth positions, and how we will work together during the birth.

  • Q&A Session: time to address any lingering questions, concerns, or last-minute thoughts, ensuring you feel fully prepared and supported.
